Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks

As part of our recent Brightwell Pump "Frothy Up Sprint Project", we have collated some Tips & Tricks for knowing what it looks like when the pumps are working normally,  what extreme overdosing looks like and when you should unplug the pumps (the last resort!).

How to tell if the pumps are working normally

  • Check if the small arrows are moving along the bottom of the screen
  • Listen for pump sounds (should be a whirring sound)
  • Verify the detergent is flowing through the clear tubes
    • Any air pockets you might see in the clear tube are a normal function, and don't indicate that anything is wrong
  • If you've just primed the pumps, a small amount of excess suds are expected.

Note: Pump #1 will only activate when Washer #1 is started, and Pump #2 will only activate when Washer #2 has started.

What does extreme detergent overdosing look like?

This is an example of extreme detergent overdosing. This won't happen unless the pump is completely malfunctioning and continually dosing detergent. If this happens, please call Service Support.

Should the pumps be unplugged when an error occurs?

  • The pumps should not be unplugged when an error occurs, unless instructed to do so by the Service Support team.
  • Let the machine run through another cycle or two.
  • Often, an issue with excessive suds (less than above image) or too little suds may resolve itself.
  • Taking a patient approach before unplugging can often save unnecessary troubleshooting or maintenance.

Understanding these aspects of detergent pump operation helps maintain smooth and efficient washing processes, ensuring that air pockets, initial suds, and minor issues are not misinterpreted as problems requiring immediate intervention.
