Can volunteers bring their dog to shift?
Volunteers are not permitted to bring their dog on shift unless they are an approved support dog. If a volunteers requires a support dog on shift, they must provide proof (certificate) to the Team Leader or Service Leader beforehand, which will be stored centrally for future reference.
Support dogs can travel in Orange Sky vehicles on the condition they are securely restrained within the vehicle with an appropriate dog seatbelt/harness (ensuring that the safety of the driver is maintained). It is the owners responsibility to clean down the interior of the cab after shift for hygiene purposes and to reduce potential allergy risks to other volunteers.
Support dogs must be restrained for the whole shift and the volunteer who brings a support dog to shift must be aware that friends could also bring their dogs to shift. Orange Sky does not take any responsibility for any harm that could occur during an altercation to their support dog while on shift.
