Article Summary

Orange sky vehicles with batteries can be charged in three different ways-

1. By parking the vehicle in full sun light.

2. By switching the vehicle engine on.

3. By plugging the vehicle into mains power.

Charging With Solar Panels

If not on shift, parking the vehicle in full sunlight will allow the solar panels to charge the batteries. However, depending on the weather conditions and initial battery charge, the power from the solar panels might not sufficient while on shift, and the vehicle must be charged with an alternate method.

Charging With the Vehicle Engine

To charge the vehicle easily and for a short duration during shift, the engine can be turned on. This is a great option for when the battery charge is running low, and just a little more charge is needed to make it to the end of shift. However, depending on how long the shift has left to go, charging from mains may be the best option.

Charging From Mains

If the battery charge percentage falls below 10%, the vehicle will need to be plugged into mains power using the charging cable stored inside.

  1. You can find the battery percentage by looking at the home screen of the vehicle.
  2. If the battery percentage falls under 10%, the vehicle needs to be plugged into mains power. There should be a power cable stored in the vehicle.
    • For a standard RV2.9/3.0, this is stored in the bucket near the first aid kit.
    • For a RV3.0 trailer variant, the power cable is in the metal storage box near the battery box.
    • For a LV1.9, this will be under the passenger seat.
  3. Open and plug one side of the power cable to the vehicle's charging inlet.
    • For a LV1.9, SV1.9 or HV1.9, the charging inlets are on the outside of the vehicle.
    • For a RV3.0, it is inside the vehicle on the dryer side.
  4. Plug in the other side of the charging cable to a nearby power point.
  5. Ensure the power point is switched on after plugging both sides of the charging cable in.
  6. The vehicle should now start charging. Looking at the screen, the charging symbol next to the battery percentage should change to a green upwards arrow.
  7. Use the vehicle's trip guards to cover the charging cable to prevent anyone tripping over the cable.
