Position Title: Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC)

Role Purpose/How You Help

The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) will work with the local leadership team to create & support communications for volunteers, coordinate speaking & event requests, facilitate internal volunteer events and work with the marketing team at Orange Sky HQ to facilitate local media opportunities to help raise the brand profile of Orange Sky.

Supervision & Reporting

The CEC reports to the team at Orange Sky HQ in Brisbane, regularly checks in with the Service Leader of the region.

Key Responsibilities

As a CEC, you are fundamental in fostering a positive, inclusive and engaging working environment for the Orange Sky volunteers in your area. You are a key player in building the awareness of Orange Sky, our impact to the community and ensuring our brand integrity remains strong. The role of a CEC will propose new and exciting tasks from assisting with speaking engagement opportunities, creating local service newsletters, coordinating volunteer events or even participating in videography and photography shoots and media interviews! Some of the key responsibilities, include:

The primary tasks will be:

  • Responsible for creating, editing & distributing the volunteer newsletter for the service or region, working closely with HQ to align content and share local updates.
  • General support for leadership team with creation of communications & invites for events.
  • Manage Facebook group for the service or region. 
  • Create and manage team of local volunteers for speaking events. 
  • Represent and/or co-ordinate Orange Sky resources for speaking engagements & events, including cheque presentations & business partner events. 
  • Manage and promote van birthday events and volunteer celebrations, working with HQ to leverage for community engagement and media opportunities.
  • Work closely with the marketing team at HQ to identify and support the coordination of local media opportunities - including proactively identifying and notifying HQ of any potential opportunities (van birthdays, compelling friend or volunteer stories etc), adhering to the Media Enquiry Process for any incoming media requests, and be the go-to person for on-the-ground coordination of opportunities.
  • Work closely with the marketing team at HQ on content capture requirements for your service location including planning and on the ground coordination of photo and video shoots.
  • Check-in with Service Leader on a regular basis.
  • At all times embrace & promote Orange Sky’s culture of ensuring safe and supportive service environments.
  • Adhering to the Orange Sky brand guidelines and key messages throughout all marketing and communications activities.
  • Other ad hoc tasks allocated by the Service Leader.
  • This role is also required to be a general volunteer, please refer to the position description for General Volunteer.

How we help you 

A comprehensive onboarding & training program will be provided to ensure the volunteer is able to successfully fulfil the role. Training will be provided across Asana, Volaby, WhatsApp/Slack, Campaign Monitor, Canva, the Orange Sky brand guidelines, media spokesperson policy and training guide, the newsletter creation process & any other programs you may be required to use. 

Support is available from the team at HQ as required.

Hours

Up to 5-10 flexible hours per week but can vary pending demands on service.

Skills Required: 

  • A great verbal and written communicator 
  • Confidence in learning new technologies or platforms (training will be provided)
  • Willing to give things a crack
  • Experience in marketing and communications desired
