Article Summary

The Brightwell Pumps deliver detergent to the washing machines.
Please note that there are two types of pumps. Confirm on this table which one you have and call Service Support for guidance.

Location of Membrane Brightwell Pumps

In both hybrid vans and laundry vans, the membrane pumps can be found by opening the sliding door, and then looking to the right wall, where the pumps should be mounted up near the roof.

In an RV, the membrane pumps are found to the right of the dryers (close to the vehicle cab, near the roof).

Troubleshooting Steps

Initial Troubleshooting

If there is no detergent going to the washing machines, there will be no 'suds' in the water looking into the washing machine drum. There are a couple steps you can follow to discover the source of this problem.

  1. Ensure that there is a sufficient amount of detergent in the detergent tank- the tank should be at least half full. If not, refill the detergent tank following the refill procedure.
  2. Are there air bubbles in the detergent tubes? If so, the pump will need to be primed.*
  3. Ensure that all detergent pumps are properly plugged in and turned on.
  4. If a detergent pump cannot be turned on, ensure that the system has been turned on at the screen. Refer to Turning Battery-Powered Vehicles On if unsure.
  5. Turn the system off and on again at the Control Panel. Do the washing machines turn on? If there is no power to both the detergent pumps AND the washing machines, then there is a different problem, most likely with the inverter. Ring service support for further instructions.
  6. Run a wash through each washing machine and watch the detergent pumps for activity. If there is no activity, this means that there is an issue with the signal between the detergent pump and machine.

*NOTE: To prime a membrane pump, press the PRIME button on the membrane pump, and select which pump you want to prime using the arrow keys. Hold PROGRAM to prime the pump selected. Once finished, press the PRIME button again to finish.

Further Troubleshooting

If the issue cannot be resolved following these initial steps, access to the rear of the washing machine will be required to investigate further.

  1. Ensure that detergent tubes to washing machines are not kinked or pinched at any point.
  2. Ensure that detergent tubes are firmly connected to the rear of machines and there are no leaks present in the system. Additionally, ensure all hose clamps and connections are tight. If this is not the case - the pump is most likely sucking in air rather than detergent.
  3. Ensure that the black Brightwell signal cables which run from the detergent pumps are firmly plugged into the washing machines. See image below for cable and connection to washing machine.

Next Steps

If all of the troubleshooting steps have been followed (or there is no access to the rear of the washing machines in the van), and nothing has worked so far, please submit an incident report. A technician will be booked to diagnose the issue.
