Article Summary

The safety of all Orange Sky volunteers is an absolute priority, and we will never require you to volunteer in unsafe weather.

Where possible, we plan ahead when it looks as though dangerous weather may affect an Orange Sky shift, and you will hear in advance if your shift is likely to be affected.

Unsafe weather affecting shift might include:

  • Thunder and lightning
  • High winds
  • Torrential rain or flooding
  • Fire or reduced air quality
  • Extreme heat or cold

In the case of less severe weather such as light rain, we always aim to provide a service for our friends if we can do so safely. Our consistency and reliability is key to the trusting relationships we enjoy out on shift.

If you are due out on shift and have any concerns about your weather locally or the safety of yourself, fellow volunteers and friends, please contact your Team Leader or Service Leader for advice.

If you are unable to contact your local management team, please call Service Support.
