The Volkswagen Transporter van has an environmental "smart-stop" feature, which cuts the engine when stopped.
This is to be expected and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.
It is possible to turn off this feature, by selecting the "A OFF" button which can be located near the hazard light button.
