SAFETY CALLOUTS

Consider the below callouts when guiding a volunteer through the instructions

Hoses may be a trip hazard. Use trip guards and/or bollards/cones in thoroughfares and restrict access to pedestrians if required. 

Hose reels can retract quickly and cause injury. Please pull the hose out and retract the hose with two hands, directly in front of the reel being careful not to over extend the hose reel.

Overfilling

The water tank is designed to prevent overfilling and will pour water underneath the vehicle when the tank is full. When in transit, water may continue to pour out of the overflow tube. This is normal operation. 

VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN

Prior to completing work, please ensure the person(s) completing work feels comfortable and safe to commence work. 

INSTRUCTIONS

Fill the clean water tank

Requires:

  • Access to a water tap
  • Tap key
  • Hose connectors/adaptors

Standing directly in front of the hose reel, extend the clean water hose (blue or yellow) using two hands.

Connect the hose to the water tap, using adapters and the tap key (pictured) if needed.

Turn the tap on.

Press the clean water pump button on the display to fill the clean water tank.

Confirm that the tank is being filled by looking for a rising water level in the clean water tank’s sight tube.

When the tank is full, water will overflow onto the ground.

Press the clean water pump button on the display to stop filling the clean water tank.

Turn off the tap and disconnect the hose. Ensure you return any tap keys and fittings to the van/pod.

Gather the hose directly in front of the hose reel and begin slowly retracting it with two hands.
