Do I need to put detergent in the van washing machines?

All of our laundry, hybrid and remote vans are fitted with self dosing laundry detergent pumps which automatically dose each load.

You do not need to add any additional detergent/fabric softener as by default, each wash receives a double dose.

Please do not add any other laundry substances to the machines as they can negatively react with the sanitiser component of the detergent, and over time this can lead to the clogging and damaging of the washing machine.

If additional detergent or powder is added into a load, the excess suds can sometimes cause the machine to stop and require manual override of the machine. If you encounter an issue like this on shift, reach out to service support or consult a volunteer familiar with this process
