Troubleshooting Guide (TG)

SAFETY CALLOUTS

Consider the below callouts when guiding a volunteer through the instructions

Wastewater is a biohazard. Wear gloves to protect your hands and ensure you are careful to avoid splashing water onto your body.

Ensure no one is in the shower area before opening the rear doors to complete inspections. 

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR CALL

  • Waste tank not draining 
  • Waste pump not working
  • Waste pump broken
  • Waste filter cleaning

TROUBLESHOOTING

Step 1: Identify the issue

If no, 

Then

On the display, is the lights icon illuminated green?

Press the lights icon on the display once, followed by the power button, to turn on the electrical system

On the display, is the toilet icon illuminated green? 

Press the toilet icon once to turn on the waste pump

Is the display free from faults?

 SIG: Waste pump fuse replacement

Is the waste hose free from kinks/squashed?

Fix kink or remove object squashing hose
SIG: Unkink a hose

Is there water left in the waste tank?

Press the toilet icon once to turn off the waste pump.

Is the waste filter free from debris and clean?

If comfortable to do so, turn off the waste pump, clean the waste filter, then turn the pump back.

Is the van parked on a flat surface? (This can make the tank appear more full than it is)

Park on a flat surface.

Do you need to drain the tank immediately?

 SIG: Manually drain the waste tank

Step 2: Communicate next steps to volunteer

Diagnostic complete, the issue cannot be resolved on shift. You will need to either

  1. Continue shift at reduced capacity and focus on connection with friends
  2. Pack up and go home
